saab 9-5 2.2 tid 2004 - clutch and/or dual mass fy wheel? - horsepower
The car has done 90,000 miles. It has never towed. It does do a lot of steep hills!
the clutch has started slipping occasionally. Worse in wet weather.
Phoning around for prices, some garages say I will almost certainly need a dual mass fly wheel as well. This takes the price from 400 to 1500.

How can tell if this is correct? what are the symptoms of a worn dual mass flywheel? At the moment, there is no judder/squeak or any other feel or sound - just an occcasional slippage.

thank you

While it is stripped down most sensible garages advice you change the flywheel and its good advice saves having to go through the execise all again in the near future. You can fit a normal flywheel and clutch to this model at a much cheaper price and also £1500 is way over the top had the same done on a Saab last year was under £1k and that was at a main dealers.
