my 54 plate mondeo tdci has now done 250,000 trouble free miles.it has started to cut out and go onto"limp home mode"when under heavy acceleration up hill or carrying a heavy load.turning off the ignition for a few seconds resets the computer and off we go again.my local garages computer tells me there is a fault but not but not whats causing it.i have changed all filters.any thoughts out there?

Faulty Turbo,turbo actuator,egr valve,maf,camshaft sensor take your pick they will all provide the symptoms you describe.

the turbo developed a high pitched whine at about the same time. neither performance nor fuel consumption has been affected.would a ford main dealers computer give a more comprhensive diagnosis?

I'm impressed with the 250,000 miles! I'm no expert but how would a dodgy turbo cause it to cut out? Power loss yes.
