A new toyota brand? - daveyK_UK

Is this true? Toyota have developed a new brand for the USA & canada which is more 'sportier'' for younger market?

Why are they still chasing a saturated market?

The interior design reminds me of a rover city, infact its probably worse.

A new toyota brand? - bathtub tom

Almost as bad as your punctuation.

A new toyota brand? - happy polo

Haven't seen any of the details of this, but it seems this is the latest trend with the Japs, first Toyota with the Lexus brand and then (I believe) Nissan with Infiniti. Toyota seem to have lost a fair bit of 'cred' with the sporty car crowd over the past few years, what with the Auris (Corolla replacement) being pretty dull and then the Prius becoming a bit of joke, so maybe they feel (another) new brand is needed for cracking the market? Are there points awarded for correct punctuation?!

A new toyota brand? - colinh
Hardly new - it's been on sale in the US since 2003

And I think Honda use the Acura brand?

Well I suppose Riley, Wolseley etc. are up for grabs to alter BMW's brand demographic?

A new Toyota brand? - Avant

That conjures up a wonderful vision of Wolseley as a youthful brand.....

In fairness, long before being taken over, Rileys perhaps had that image in the 1930s.

I was actually thinking about appealing to the older driver. Comfy slippers and a warm fire while counting the pension. Vanden Plas possibly if you have a larger pension .

'Travel first class by British Riley.'

'Put a little light in your life.'

( Riley and Wolseley slogans from the 60's)

A new Toyota brand? - Armstrong Sid
If you want to appeal to the older British driver you could also revive names like Austin, Morris, Standard.

I think there was even some consideration to reviving the Triumph brand as a kind of alt-BMW in the late 80s

Or even Armstrong Siddeley............
