Nissan Almera Pulse, 53 reg - Child seat for Nissan Almera 2003 - Stinch

Can anyone help my wife and I please. We have a 2003 Nissan Almera Pulse and are having a lot of trouble finding a car seat that fits.

Has anyone got any suggestions please? We have tried so many makes and models of car seat from all the main shops but can't seem to get anything that fits.

Thank you for your help.

Why don't they fit? Have you tried Toys r us? They have sorted us out every time we have needed a seat, reasonable prices too.

I've a 53 reg Almera and had no problems fitting my grandson's seat in the back (he's fifteen months old). I can't tell you what it was.

HI. go to the BRITAX web-site they'll have a list of all the cars, and what seats fit in what positions....ie some car seats arn't safe in the center of the rear seat.

its what we've done for years. and the Britax seats always come out well in the crash tests unlike some more trendy brands...

good luck

Paul.

Thank you all for your suggestions. So far we have tried John Lewis, Mothercare, Babies 'R' Us, Mamas and Papas and Halfords, all Maxi Cosi group 1 and group 1,2,3 seats as well as all Britax seats as well. So far the best people have been John Lewis as both Halfords and Babies 'R' Us have tried to sell us seats that John Lewis have refused to sell us, and they have explained why.

We have tried the Britax website and tried all the seats they list as being a fit but none of these have fit. There is a note on the website that each individual 53 reg almera needs to be tested as 'the seat buckle sits quite high and variation in buckle length does occur'. We have even tried a Britax seat which has two different ways of securing the seat to get round this problem but neither securing methods fitted.

The issue appears to be the seat belt clasp. Instead of lying flush (or nearly flush) with the seat, it is on the end of a piece of the seat belt strap. This means that with all the child seats it is the buckle that tries to go around the securing mechanism, not the belt itself.

I have two options left, contacting Britax directly or contacting my local Nissan garage to see if they can shorten the clasp unless there is a last minute reprieve.....

If there was any possible way to find out I would be much appreciative. My wife and I are getting extremely anxious about it now as we have been searching for a long time and our son has very nearly grown out of his old seat.

Thank you for any help you are able to give.

The first thing I must ask is whether you're looking at front facing or rear facing group 1 seats. My assumption would be front facing. As long as his head is not over the top of the current seat and not over the weight limit I would leave him in it as long as possible.
Next, look at www.rearfacing.co.uk

Unfortunately we couldn't afford a rear facing group 1 seat some chose the next best thing for us - the kiddy infinity pro seat. It doesn't have a conventional 5 point harness but has an impact cushion, therefore helping to eradicate the spinal cord severing issue. Also, it's a fairly small seat and uses the seat belt in a fairly conventional way so you wont suffer buckle crunch etc. And it would fit in pretty much all cars. We love love love this seat. Our son is happy too :)

Just had another thought. Surely your car has isofix points so isofix car seats should fit? That's if you want to go down the conventional route. Why aren't the seats you tried fitting?
