VW Golf 5 Door TDI - Mark 4 - Whirring Noise coming from Passenger side - Tmack

I have an occassional whirring noise which comes from the passenger side...It sounds louder when you're in the passenger seat...Its intermittant and seems to be louder at slower speeds.

My Dad who's a mechanic doesnt think its the bearings as its not constant and would be louder the faster i drove...

Any thoughts guys?

actually guys i've been told its more likely to be the front bearing needs replaced...given its semi intermittent and is louder or quieter when turning...

but if you've any other ideas let me know...
