Vauxhall Corsa D 1.2 - Corsa D lambda readings - netrovia

My car has just failed its first MOT on the lambda readings, what is this can someone help.

Readings on the printout are as follows

Fast idle test 1:

Engine Speed: 2500 -3000rpm Pass

CO: <= 0.200% Manual check -0.002% pass

HC: <= 200ppm Manual Check 2ppm pass

Lambda 0.970-1.030 Manual Check 1.380 fail

Fast idle test 2:

Engine Speed: 2500 -3000rpm Pass

CO: <= 0.200% Manual check -0.001% pass

HC: <= 200ppm Manual Check 0ppm pass

Lambda 0.970-1.030 Manual Check 1.265 fail

What do you think the problem is anyone and will it be expensive?

Please help and thanks for any you may give.

1) First plug our equipment in and see if the engine control unit (ECU) has registered any fault codes.

2) We would then use a scope to measure the output from the lambda sensor.

3) We would also use a 4-gas analyser to determine if there is a problem with the burning of the fuel.

It needs to go into a garage.... if i were you, i'd take it to a fuel injection specialist, might cost a little more but if they know what they are doing, your car will be fixed.

What's its service history, mileage and when was its air filter last changed?

full service history 58000 miles service was three weeks ago filter was changed then.

I had the same problem with my car!!

first thing you should check is, if there is any even tiny holes in the exhoust, if there is then this will show lambda reading high!!!!

My corsa d has just failed for idle CO emmisons too. How did you fix yours in the end? I cant read the reply you posted above if it had the answer, it seems to have got mixed up in some sort of internet gobbleydegook. Thanks

It's just worrying how such a new car with a low mileage should be failing its first MOT.

Like the camshaft bolts, did the monkeys they employ in the back of beyond tighten up the exhaust bolts?
