golf mk3 1.8 se 1996 - what type of brake caliper on my 1996 golf mk3 - vwmark

apparently my golf was fitted with either vw or Girling front brake calipers. how can i tell which is fitted to mine?

My manual shows that the VW caliper has a round brake pad inspection hole in the caliper front leading face, and the Girling has a rectangular inspection hole.

The only accurate method to verify what type you have ,is to remove a wheel and check the make stamped into the body of the caliper.hth
