Mercedes SLK 200K - BAS - HetSLK

BAS light shows up on cluster after half an hour's drive and stays on during journey (even after stopping and restarting). Next day no light shows again until after half an hour or so. Merc garage says it's a rare fault and needs two new pressure pads in the system. £500. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks.

I am assuming this is early model Slk (vin # starts Wdb170).In which case the pressure sensors for the bas system are part of the brake vacuum servo and cannot be replaced individually.Not a common fault but certainly a known issue amongst M/B repairers.hth
