MINI Cooper - mini power steering pump failure - tony g

Hi,ive recently bought a 2003 mini cooper with a noisy power steering pump.its a suprise that thiers not a lot more comments / information ,on the forum about this issue.as it seems that every mini made between 2001 and 2007 seems to have the same problem.

What im looking for help with is . Has anyone ever removed a mini ps pump , is it a diy job and whats involved.

What actually fails on the pump,is it seals/ gears etc. Is it a diy job to strip the pump down and replace the damaged parts,whats inside the pump,

If its not a diy job to strip the pump down. Does anyone know of a company or business that rebuilds the pumps and at what price.

Finally in 2007 BMW redesigned the pump to sort the problem ,what did they do to it.

any help or information would be appreciated.

The poster who's spamming had a different user name last night, 'ecu-repairs' which just happens to be a sister site to the one he's promoting, i've made a note to avoid those companies in the future.
