is it just me or has the Autotrader website become unuseable. There is now so much unrelated advertising that my PC can't load it. Each refresh takes upto a minute. What other sites are good apart from Exchange and Mart and Petrolheads?

I know what you mean; sometimes its incredibly slow. I also find it very frustrating that sometimes the return to results action forgots all my search options!

I do find a lowly version of Interner Exlporer (IE6) is much worse than say a later version of Firefox. Have you tried a different browser?

As for other sites, what about motors.co.uk? Again though, doesn't seem to like older browsers.

It's not just you. It's been awful and slow since they redesigned it a few months ago.

Frustrating. When you think the page has loaded and you start reading something, it jumps away from you again. I'm usually on Firefox or Safari on a Mac, so it's not like I'm only using a small laptop

Rubbish, unless you've got lots of spare time

The old version worked just fine,as the saying goes'if it works dont bother trying to fix it'.

Never had any problems with it.

Windows XP, all drivers and Flash programs up to date, Norton Security etc..

May I suggest some people MAY have problems with viruses/cookies etc which conflict with the site... (I don't have as far as I know as am fantical about keeping PC up to date and virus free)

My PC at home is as clean as a whistle, with XP (SP3) and Firefox 3, and it can be slow at certain times.

At work I have IE6, and it can run like a dog.

I'm running IE8 with all popups blocked..

Under FireFox 3.6 without any adblockers running the site flies along.

With a Quad core mac with 16GB ram running Safari - the site loads and searches instantly for me!

Please, do yourselves all a favour and stop using Internet Explorer - unless you absolutely have to (ie certain bank sites).

Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Opera. All are faster, more secure, better visually and feature wise. Get the XMarks add in too and you can sync your bookmarks across multiple machines and web browsers too.

But yes, the autotrader site can slow at times (even on a 100 Mb link) and the fairly recent improvements have missed some key potential features.

I used to use Firefox and Chrome but IE8 works better on some sites. NOW.. Some key sites I use will not run under Chrome or Firefox: and realtime loading of two systems is a nogo as far as I am concerned..

Simple Dual core overclocked 25% loads Autotrader instantly

Autotrader loaded just now in a little over 10 seconds, on a dial-up connection. Why you should be having trouble defeats me with the ultra fast BB connection. Just goes to prove that they are not the total solution to internet download problems and web page rendition.

Confirmed the browser issue to myself yesterday, round my brother's last night on a fairly slow antique computer, he was trying desperately to show me something on Autotrader (IE8) - page just hanging - cut and paste url into FireFox - pow, instant access no problems.
