any - What estate/MPV for antique dealer... - Vansboy

Hi All!

Friend has now decided the Omega estate must go, but seems hard to find what he needs, so any input most welcome.

MUST HAVE ... 6' loadspace with flat floor area & internal tailgate opening minimum 42''. & widest space between wheelarch intrusion, possible.

He likes current Galaxy, with foldflat seating, but trying to find a nice one, in Ghia spec, is pretty hard, so far.

Budget £14k would be ok.

Thanks in advance

I thought they all used old Volvo estates and a rusty Leyland van

He did - well, he had the LDV 200 years back, but has always had Carlton/Omega, but REALLY needs something just as good at carrying stuff!

A nice Transit with leather seats and AC

So why not a Volvo? Antique dealers have them for good reasons (longevity, square-shaped luggage area etc). A Mercedes estate is another possibility, but your friend would get a newer Volvo for the budget.

Or a Ford S-Max perhaps.

Vauxhall Vectra estate. Not as nice to drive as the Mondeo but more load space, bigger than the Omega estate as well

Why would anyone want to spend £14k or want a "nice" Galaxy for lugging stuff around? I'd not spend more than £2300.

For boxy shaped items an older Berlingo Multispace would be a dream. For easy roofrack loading plus interior space I'd still look amongst the old Volvos, though beware of a diesel and what expenses this could encur in parts. Still a good selection of Omegas left around too.
