My husbad has lost the locking nut key, we hav got 3 of the nuts off but one of them we just cant do, the dome bit spins and we cant get a socket to fit in the hole. We have taken teh car to almost every garage and trye place in aldershot/farnborough and no one can do it. we have called out the AA and they cant do it. None of the standard locking nut removal tools work as apparently jags are different, any ideas on how to get this b***** nut off??

With the original packaging of the locknuts would come a reference number that equates to the locknut pattern

We don't have the original packaging, we bought the car 2nd hand in 08, the nuts were on the car then. They are jaguar locking nuts.

We have been told there is a letter stamped on the nuts and this would then helpus to know at least whcih key we needed but there is no letter on any of the 3 nuts we have taken off.

I had an Xtype and the car came without the LWN. I took it to a Jaguar dealership and they removed free of charge. All I had to do was buy a new set of LWN (4) and a new key.

Bit of a long shot, but have you thought of trying a Ford dealer? The X Type is a Ford really so maybe locking nuts from the Mondeo it is based on would be the same?

I know if I need a replacement key for my Jaguar a Fiesta one will fit...

These people are supposed to be the best in the country, they removed my x-type lockers.

The storeman at our local Ford dealer keeps a complete set of all the locking nuts Ford have ever used-so he can order the correct one when you sort out which it is.Try your Jag dealer.

I have a 7 year old car and was only given one locking nut plus a referenece number. I got rid the locking nuts,as I didn't want to finish up in OP's situation, and replaced then with ordinary ones, on the basis that they alloys aren't that special and my own garage said that whole cars are stolen now and nobody bother to steal just the wheels
