Allumium tyres - Tyre levers - Gregory II

Hi

I am looking at this item (a Sealey TC963 - Tyre Bar for Aluminium Wheels). Why are these bars so expensive, or are there alternatives to this bar?

A link to the site is:

Can anyone recommend other tyre levers from Ebay? Can anyone provide me with tips in how to use this manual tyre changer, i.e. to make life easier preferably?

Greg, Look on you tube there is videos showing you how to use one, type in manual tyre machine, im at work today so can't provide a link.

First let the air out of the tyre with a valve key, then break the bead start at the wheel with the shallow side first usually the front of the wheel then break the back one, stand on the tyre too it helps to break.

Now to remove the tyre put on top of machine remove tyre from shallow side of wheel only again usually the front as you look at it, fit clamp to hold wheel and secure.

You can lube the old tyre with soap i use cheap shampoo and fit the correct bar either steel or alloy wheel bar, put into tyre and pull up with bar and your other hand helping to lift the tyre up and work it around the pole, similar to removing a bike tyre.

Once one bead is off do the same to other and remove, clean the wheel were the tyre sits and replace the valve, to refit use other end of bar lube new tyre & place tool on wheel first and tyre over tool and work round onto the wheel.

Practice is what you need.!!
