Ford Escort Eclipse 1300cc 1990 - Play in front near side wheel when taken for MOT - Delysher

Guys can you help me out here ?

I had the front nearside wheel bearing replaced on my ford escort 1990 model at a garage in August 2009. I took the car for an MOT today at ther same garage that did the repair.

Their is play on the near side front wheel when the garage was MOT the car. The garage said it might be a loose nut or something else, or it might be ther wheel bearing ????.

I am giving the garage an open check if I ask them to carry out the repair as they can not definately say what the problem may be ? How much could it cost me to repair ?

Hi There. Play on the front nearside wheel could be a number of things...(Bottom Swivel worn ......track rod end worn....wheel bearing worn .... loose hub nut..... wishbone bushes worn or a fault on the machperson strut which the wheel is attatched to, and its not unheard of for a wheel bearing to last less than a year or 12000 miles. On average a garage should charge about £110 for a wheel bearing change

Just a question.

The front wheel bearing was renewed by thre garage in August 2009. if it is faulty already now and the car failed the MOT 14 June 2010 at the garage that fit the wheel bearing, am I obliged to pay the same garage again the same charges to supply and fit another new front wheel bearing.
