Any suggestions where to start, heater gives little heat when selected ,engine warms up fine.A quick fix would be nice as its a banger and i'll put a jumper on if it gets too serious.....
sounds like the matrix is gummed up is rad flush up to the job?

Check that the heater valve really is opening first.
Then if you think it still is the matrix blocked up I'd give it some strong clearance treatment but disconnected from the rest of the system. Then you can put in some hot caustic s**a, and back flush it with a hosepipe.

If you are going to use caustic s o d a wear, at an absolute minimum, goggles on your eyes (not glasses). If you get it in your eyes, it's incredibly difficult to get out and may blind you. Full gace protection would be preferable, especially if you are heating the stuff.
Also pretty bad on skin - wear plastic gloves and rinse off immediately if any contact with exposed skin.
Please beleive me, don't try it without great care.
thanks

Heater valve is easy to check as it is above your left foot when in the driving seat. On my 740 the little rod became unhitched. Check the coolant level is up to max, if it is low the heater is the first to suffer. If both pipes to the heater are getting hot the it will need a new matrix so get the missus knitting!

thanks guys will try the valve today and failing that the flush..maybe,might just get the jumper out!
