I have a citroen zx 1.9diesel and it sometimes surges forward when im traveling at a normal rate of speed. can anyone tell me what this is causeed by,
also does anyone know what the 0-60 time is

I have the same car, and can tell you its 0-60 time is in minutes.

From Dec'91 road test....
0-60: 14.7sec
30-50: 10.4sec
Max: 97mph
Touring: 47.7mpg
The concluding comment was that it "Takes family diesels onto a new plane". Quite right, it did.
The reason that was true is demonstrated by comparison with two other diesels of the day. The Renault 19D had a 0-60 of 23.4sec with a fuel consumption 4.1mpg worse. The Astra 1.7D took 17.5sec to get to 60 and its 30-50 time was 17.1sec.

My 1.9 Pug was 0-60 -the same day-, or -next day before noon- if you wanted to pay less.
:))
To be fair, it never felt that slow. And I managed to leave a mate's Fiat Brava behind through roundabouts and out the other side when I was taking it to the breakers.
Think positive: Every other car feels very quick after a 1.9D

On the other hand, once they've reached 60 (and above) they'll do it all day, won't gobble the derv, and should carry on doing it for many hundreds of thousands of miles.... especially in a light-bodied car like a BX , and if you keep in sensible rev ranges.

Surging - can be caused by air in the fuel system.

The surging can be caused by an interaction of engine/body/suspension movement with the throttle cable if the cable outer sheathing is worn.
|
|
Air is more likely than the throttle cable.
That said, mine has a very stiff cable that I oil every 3 months, which eases it. I must fit a new one soon.
In response to the throttle cable issue, mine had totally different power delivery with the stiff cable, so do check it.
