Gents, how much can you expect to knock off windscreen price on 2nd hand car between 6-7k?
Would be paying cash.

I was looking at cars lower down the price range this weekend. Despite being around £500 - £1000 over the guide price the answer seemed to be NIL with the guarantee being extra!

Nobody wants cash any more - they want the finance company commission - tough luck on the buyer.

Have they ever?

I haggled long and hard when I bought my first used car from a garage in the 60's. But....... I said, I'm paying cash. Wish you weren't, Sir, was their response.

skoda octavia - dealer's mark up - Avant

John - it's simply a matter of supply and demand. If the dealer thinks he can get the full price (because there's lots of interest in the car, or in that make generally) then he'll hold out for it.

But if it's a car that is sticking around (yukky colour, no a/c, too high a mileage etc) he'll budge in order to shift it.

An Octavia is a good secondhand buy and unless it has obvious snags such as the above you may not find much movement. If you think it's overpriced, try some other dealers.
