W210 E320 - Disabled Tax Disc & The V5 - Justin-on-42nd

Hi All

Opinions please...

If a car is registered disabled, ie the tax is a disabled disc, when they come to sell it, they just have to send the tax disc back, not the V5 as well, right?

So why would someone say that they had to send off the V5 as well???

Cheers - Justin

As you have said the car is registered as "Disabled" which will show on the V5 so it needs to be sent off to DVLA to be changed.

Yes and no... it doesn't have to be "sent off", you can get it changed at your local DVLA office (plenty scaterred around the country)... I did it when I purchased an Escort that was "tax free"... just took the apropriate forms, insurance and money and got a new tax disk within the appropriate band... the V5 then comes to you showing the new tax band...

Look it up on the direct gov site, it tells you what to do.

BTW the Post Office can do it the other way... i.e. taxable to tax free, but can't do it the other way!
