vaxhaull vectra 06 - Vectra windscreen wiper problem - felixstowe

My windscreen wipers stop in the vertical position. They work fine apart from they stop in the wrong place. I know you can move them to the 'service' position when the engine is off but the key still in and have used this to reset them down but the minute I use them again they end up stopping in the vertical position when I switch them off-any ideas?

This problem has been mentioned previously on www.vectra-c.com a few times. I can't remember the exact reason, but it's something like a faulty wiper motor or the park postion sensor inside the unit. A search over there should be able to find it.

Is it any wonder why I gave up moderating this forum. Umpteen weeks on and there are still bugs in the system.

Thought I'd have a quick look in, wish I hadn't bothered now.

it will require a new motor, the park mechanism is built into the motor, Regards TB

Someone on Vectra-c.com has stripped down the wiper motor and repaired the parking mechanism. The earth connection to the microswitch inside the motor assembly becomes detached. You have to drill a small hole in which to pass a wire through the casing and solder to the microswitch to create a new earth connection.

I've no idea where all those question marks came from - I haven't seen them on any other thread. If it happens to anyone again, please let us know on moderators@honestjohn.co.uk and we will get the tech guy on to it.

Avant, from what I recall, there was a space between the words "a few times" and the full stop. For unknown reasons I was unable to remove the space, or use the keyboard arrows to place the cursor in the correct spot. I tried pressing the delete key but the space wouldn't delete. Even after submitting the post I was unable to then go back and edit out the spaces or question marks that magically appeared. As the post was clearly wrong after I posted it, I copied the original words, then pasted them making sure that I did delete the space and question marks. The result of those actions can be seen above.

Hope that helps? Dave.

If Dynamic Dave thinks this website is now a mess, then it is a mess. I used to visit several times a day but I really can't be bothered that often now.
