Renault Megane - Cheap Tyres - I'm a Pane

Hi All,

Looking to sell the Megane to get something more comfortable driving position wise. However it has been highlighted to me that at least 2 of my tyres are barely legal and the other two have about 2mm left. Now I want to replace before selling but obviously also don't want to spend much. Has anyone real life experience of the following two brands:

Marshall

Nangkang

I can get both for around £170 fitted for 4 locally, also offered a Federal which comes in at £155 for 4, but these would have to be ordered in.

Any pearls of wisedom?

Great to have the forum back by the way, and I hope the old mods haven't deserted us completely!

Depends how your going to sell it...if i as a private buyer came to look at it i'd want to see reasonable quality tyres on the car, the very cheapest Chinese stuff and i'd walk away or expect the price to reflect the car needing new proper tyres, and yes i would take them off and sell em on that site. Also i'd assume probably wrongly that other servicing was equally cheaply done, such as cheap engine oil etc.

For a small amount extra you could probably get a set of Toyo's Vredesteins Avons etc ...mid range but well respected.

Thats me though and i am very fussy about tyres, others may not be bothered.

Really doubt this would apply at the £1k end of the market but appreciate the comments.

Fair enough EP, i'd assumed a newer motor, in that case go Federal, they actually get quite good reviews.

Renault Megane - Cheap Tyres - Talking Hoarse

I agree with GordonBennett. I would rather buy a car with a worn out set of Michelin's, Continental's etc (and pay £200 less) than with new cheapo tyres. I would likely remove any cheapo tyres and replace with a pukka make.

I am currently looking for a car and have walked away from an otherwise decent looking car because it had 4 odd tyres (and only 14k miles by the way) - there were also questions about the service history, but it is all a part of the story that the car tells, and I need to follow my "bladder feeling"!

Why spend more money on a car you are selling? Are you not sort of pouring "good money after bad"?
