Dear all,
We are aware there are bugs in the new forum that have taken away various bits and pieces.
Things we are aware of are:
No edit button
No forum search
Absence of "New"
If there are any other things you notice please add to this thread so we can fix as a priority first thing in the morning.

Something wrong with the poster profiles too. The link to look at peoples profile has gone and it seems you can't go into your own either to change preferences.

1. The the number of views per thread has disappeared. Lud says he can see it but I can't.
2. The replies count is in error by one; i.e a new thread is indicated as having one reply not zero.

The link back to 'discussion' has gone awol to the top right of the page.
'Report' button gone.
I am seeing a much lower number of threads per page, with no obvious way to change it.

I wonder why some posts are on the blue background and others white... and why the posts get narrower towards the end of a longer thread.
|
Also missing is the bit where you could filter posts by car make/model and topic etc.
Anyone realise this was edited and when and by whom? Nope. It was RTJ70/Rob at 19:13.

The ability to remember the username used to login. At least it seems not to remember mine. There used to be a tickbox.
Swear filter doesn't work. So free for all swearing until fixed. Some will rejoice.
Edit: Turned on :-)
When a post is edited, it doesn't say so, so who can tell if someone's words have been edited. I could currently edit a post and change it and nobody would currently know.

Spacing of threads too much if only a single line is needed. Simple XML template fix?

For years I have had more than 20 threads in the list screen. Not sure how I did it but I can't see how to do it again.

Because it seems to double space them. I suspect it works out the largest (there is one needing two lines) and uses that for all. We just need to all get 30" cinema type displays and its not a problem.

What a pity all this was not sorted out before the handover.
Organising a piss up in a brewery springs to mind.

They tried that and failed I think. Thanks for some light hearted comments. I'd hide it to be honest but that does not work properly either.

After posting a, er, post, it used to display the thread at the new post. Now it goes back to the top. Personally I prefer the former.

messages in a thread are all over the place not lined to the left margin. If you know what i mean!

I think the margin is supposed to be threading, e.g you can see the replies and see what is not, but it seems to be random.
The biggest flaw I have noticed is the replies it counts the original post.

The moderators have provided a list of features missing and the developers are still working on their introduction. So please do not post loads in here about how the site is different now. It's new and will improve over time.

How is it that, when a website is "improved", the new version is always worse than the one it replaces?

It's still being improved. We are told due to technical reasons some of the feature are not yet turned on. We could have waited for them to all be finished and leave it closed down.

This used to be a fantastic site. Why can't things be left alone, if it ain't broke, why fix it?

It has been moved to a totally new platform to allow for some new development to the whole site, not just the forum. The old forum software could not be used hence an all new forum - we'll just have to wait for some bits. It will evolve so please bear with the HJ publishing team.

Would it be an easy task for the mods to keep this thread's OP updated with a current "to do list" and items crossed out as they are dealt with?
If so, it should provide a single place for all issues to be brought to the attention of interested parties, and for them all to be aware of the current status (including whether a suggestion has been put aside for the time being due to difficulty of implementation).
So, for example, the OP list could show items HJpublisher is aware of, items being dealt with, items struck out as and when completed, items put on indefinite hold until further notice.

Taking Pat's point, can I add this to the wish-list:
1. use a second pastel shade in place of the current plain white background colour used for alternating posts.
2. new posts to have a (very) slightly darker shade of background colour.
