Just seen DVLA Car tax van in Colchester

Just seen DVLA Car tax van in Colchester - Andrew Hamilton
Not seen it before so was interested to see two cameras about 1 foot apart on stand. Small van with occupant looking asleep as portable PC seemed to be recording all the numbers. Large notice beside van stating it was looking for Car Tax evaders. I thought this car checking was automated now but guess cheaper to use man with a van on temporary sites.

They were out in force in Haverfordwest, Pembs last week. Quite a few parked cars had clamps on them and a large notice slapped on the windscreen proclaiming that the vehicle was untaxed. Most amusing was to see a group of five cars on a grass verge "Showroom" all with their wheels firmly clamped. That's one traders profit margin destroyed.

Pity there aren't more of them around. There are a number of persistent offenders in this area who own reasonable cars which they refuse to tax.
If these aren't properly registered any fines are never paid so clamping or towing them is the only solution.
