05 1.6 Failed MOT on lambda emissions - MikeMyers
Feeling a bit T'd off. Car failed emissions test this morning, but passed this afternoon. Paid for mobile diagnostic test and everything checked out OK, then straight into emission test and no problem. Today is a pretty cold foggy February day, and I was wondering if getting the test moved to the summer would be a plan for the future ?

I take all our Vauxhalls including my Zafira 1.6 for a good 30 to 40 minute thrash so they are good and hot and then straight into MOT particularly as two are due for testing in January. A couple of tanks of Shell V Power go in during the weeks running up to the test. All emissions barely registered on the tester's machine and lambda was 1 which I was pretty pleased with on an 80,000 mile engine. An oil and oil / air filter change will also assist.

But would you consider it worth while moving the MOT to the summer just make sure the MOT is carried out on a much hotter engine ?

No makes no difference really as said above take it for a thrash or also known as a "italian tune up " a simple service new oil and filters inc air and fuel etc.

Only good thing about summer mot is if you fix it yourself it's usually dry but in feb well it's not!
