Hi
We're in the process of looking for a replacement for our Zafira. We want something with more boot space. We never use the 2 back seat so even with them permanently folded we need more space! We're looking at larger estates and 4x4's. With a budget of around £15k we are struggling to find the best option. Top of the list so far is the Pathfinder, a fully specced Aventura, 56/07 plate, manual, diesel. This is based on size and reasonable running costs and not too big a list of common faults.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.
Thanks

What size and shape of boot are you looking for? That would narrow things down!

New:
Skoda Octavia Estate (not a flat load space)
Something Korean
Nearly New:
Mondeo Estate
Audi A6 Avant
BMW 5 Touring
Think the mondeo is the biggest of these.

Oh, I should add, we use a roofbox and carry surfboards on the roof, and carry bikes on a tow bar etc so fully laden!
Size of boot? Well, a decent size bigger than the Zafira and on a par with the Pathfinder.
Shape? The more box shape the better (i.e. less intrusion from acrches) btu this is not the critical factor.
The Zafira is 645 litres in 5 seat formation. Not sure the A6, Mondeo or 5 series beat that but will double check.

Smax boot capacity 285 litres in 7 seat mode, 1051 in 5 seat, 2000 with all seats down.

With all that load on the vehicle is an enclosed box trailer not a viable option leaving space for the occupants to spread out ?
I realise not everyone has space to store such a trailer, just throwing it into the mix.

One of these tailgated me at well over the legal limit on the A19 at South Tyneside a few days ago, so I can confirm they go well enough.

I had the same treatment from one on the pedestrian-laden road past Warwick University the other weekend, before it overtook me and several others until we all had to stop at the same red light. It was black, but aren't they all?
It doesn't do to stereotype, I know, but it saves me a lot of time to take an instant dislike to anyone in one of these. An S-Max will probably hold more, use less fuel, be nicer to drive and not cause your friends to shun you and dogs to bark at you in the street.

Ford transit mini bus take out the back seats a huge boot fit a roof rack for the boards now becomes a surf bus.!

For boot space, it's difficult to beat the likes of the Citroen Berlingo.

Some good options to think about. S Max becomes a solid contender. Thanks.
Not sure the wife would be happy with the trailer option but its a fair suggestion. As for the surf bus, that would suit me but as the wife is paying her share I'm not sure it would get past the selection panel.
I'm not ruling out the Pathfinder....yet, as we access remote countryside on our activities and many a time I've cursed not having one. If there's a better 4x4 option I'm open to suggestions. But I'm all for economics so the alternatives are lookng attractive.
Thanks again
