My Berlingo now almost 8 years old, and I've just noticed that on the driver's side, there is some deterioration at the base of the rear sliding door. I've taken some pictures:

Here, for comparison side, is the passenger's side. There is some slight deterioration, but it's not too bad:

I've given it a wipe, and sprayed on some WD40.

Is there anything else I should do? And how concerned should I be?

Hi there, It's just the coating/paint on the door runners that has worn or flaked off.

I have a year 2000 with the same problem although not as bad. When closing or opening the doors you can hear a sort of crackling sound as the rollers go over the wrinkled coating in the runners.

I did think about stripping them out and re-coating/painting them but have opted to just stick some grease in there to keep the rust at bay.

You will find the runners in the middle of the door will go the same way, wouldn't worry about it as it is only the runner.

Try cleaning them out the best you can then apply some grease to them unless you fancy removing the doors and taking the runners out and re- coating/painting them.

Hope this helps.

Dave.
