Hi there, first post so please be gentle. I've found this forum via a web search and I hope someone can help me! I've got a 54 reg VW Touran 1.9 Diesel which has done approx 53k, I was driving it home the other day and the accelerator just stopped working properly and my car slowed down with very little to no resistance from the accelerator. No lights came on, on my dashboard. I pulled over, turned the car off and then on again and when in neutral the car rev's fine but when you put it into gear the car will drive but extremely sluggishly! I managed to get home and rang a local garage who initially thought it may the air flow meter that is wrong with it, they have checked this and confirmed that it is not. The garage is now saying there is a problem with the Turbo and they think it could be the wastegate?! My main concern is, the guy at the garage seems very vague about the problem and when I told him this afternoon that I had googled about this issue he started asking me how to fix it! (I am rubbish at car issues, so you can imagine how far my knowledge stretches to!) Has anyone ever experienced this issue, if it is indeed this or have any suggestions as to what else it could be and know to fix it? I'm concerned about getting charged over the odds for a problem which it may not even be and wondering how much it is likely to cost to mend? Thanks in advance - I hope!
Have you received any joy in solving the proble? My Touran did exactly the same thing last week and is now standing...seem to be expensive to fix?
Hope you can give me some valuable advice!
Regards, Louana Victor
