Can anyone tell me if I am correct in sayng that a Nov 2001 car with emissions of circa 320g/?? will shortly be paying in excess of £400 pa (albeit at the moment paying £245)

AFAIK if the car is registered before April 2006 then it will avoid the top tax bracket and remain in band K. I am not 100% sure on this, it has changed a few times!

That's very helpful DD. Looks like there is a maximum of £245 for pre March 06 cars. Thanks for the direction - I had looked at a few (AA< Parkers, What Car) but couldn't see the exemption.

desmrics - if you don't mind me asking, what car are you lucky enough to drive that chucks out that amount of CO2?

Not driving it yet but thinking of a low mileage Audi 4.2 to replace my well loved but aging 3 series Touring. I only do 5,000 mile pa so by my reckoning can afford to 'chuck out' three times the CO2 as someone doing 15,000 pa.
