Been with the AA over 20 years now they offered last year relay for £12.00 extra i have roadside & complimetary home start.
This year the letter came they want roadside £59.00 relay £55.00 £114.00 total
I just phoned them up to see what they can do or take off relay they offered the lot for £70.00 or roadside for £39.00! still inc complimentary homestart.......
This is on the 0161 332 1789 number and press the number that you want to leave the AA this gets you straight through to a human being rather than the automated voice telling you there is a high volume of calls been sat there on the free phone number for 7 mins!
So moral of the story people don't accept there stupid offer and see what better offer you can get.!

If this isn't sharp practice by the AA I don't know what is. I got a reduction a couple of times on the basis that there was a better offer for new members than someone who hadn't even called them out for 7/8 years. The third time, they refused to budge, and they will never see my money again.
RAC at least give a no-call-out discount equivalent to the recruitment offer, or did last time.

They have to compete green flag are cheaper but heard the rubbish with there call out times.
For £39.00 it's fine still a good saving but pays to moan.

Autoaid. Excellent. Look them up.

To be honest, say £120 a year (£10 p/m) is excellent value to have the reassurance that whenever and where ever you are there is someone to call to help with you vehicle and to transport it, you and your passengers home safeley if required.

Yes, but why pay more than you have to?? Just got mine though after Twenty years and it's twenty odd quid cheaper for a newbie. Outrageous.

Second that common sense tells you to shop around when the price suddenly jump up.
Didn't know of all these other comanies untill i did a search the AA will lose customers with this attitude but it pays to speak to them to see what they can do.

Mine was less than £70 with Aviva.

The best thing to do, I have found it hop between RAC and AA every year and search on the internet for offers, such as free £15 M&S vouchers. I only need roadside cover as I am quite resourceful and don't do much long distance travelling, and I usually pay £15-30 for a year, but renewals are usually ~£50 and still ~£40 if I call them and say I wish to cancel.

My 10yo car is covered by the manufacturer's recovery deal... I reinstated it the other year, which only cost £80 iirc and gave me full european cover and a whole load more, and went to renew it last year, but manufactrer wouldn't let me, whereas RAC who provide the recovery bit were... but said it was the last time that they could, and would I like 1 yr for £80 or 2 yrs for £150? Guess which I went for!
Have a look at what the deal is with the manufacturers original cover; even a friend who works for the RAC reckons its a better deal than getting standard cover.
|
With the AA it's you that is covered not the car is this the same with other companies? so if your the passenger in another car you can get them to it if your stranded.

AA membership.........................
Should that not read AA customer
Members /membership gives the idea of service to a group or community owned business.
AA is a a business run for a profit

Same reassurance with Autoaid and they only charge £37 a year.
|
Same with the RAC it's the individual that's covered not the motor.
|
"Same with the RAC it's the individual that's covered not the motor."
Both the AA and RAC default to specific vehicle cover, single or joint person cover are premium paid options.
