Not a fan of personalised plates, but did like 2BE and NOT2B on a Merc and Range Rover parked side by side in a house in Chelsea.

Have seen 'KINGS' around the Orpington area on a metallic blue Bentley 'somethingorotherturbospecialwithsolidgoldknobson' and am led to believe ths plate holds the record for a personal plate in the UK at over £200k !!!!!!!

Some people buy expensive jewellery, and other people buy cheap imitations. What's the difference ? Owning expensive jewellery presumably gives immense personal satisfaction, that's what. If you've got it, flaunt it. I just wish I'd got a bit more flaunting capability !!
Yep, I've got no problem with these people paying for such plates. I think the really sad ones are those who tweak and distort ordinary plates to read something they're not.
I hadn't realised that
K1NGS had been sold so long ago - I wonder what it would go for today !

A kings ransom maybe?
No doubt the owner will come back to his Bentley one night only to find his number plates have been nicked ! ;-)
isnt KINGS on Jonathan Kings car (i could well be wrong here? but he has something similar) and in view of his current position I dont think the car will be out much ?
the best one is the red ferarri with J BECK as a number plate, which I guess must be a certain guitarist of note ? if youre reading this can I borrow the car ?
IIRC, Jonothan King used to park his gold-coloured roller a few streets off Queensway, and it was JK 22. (I lived in the area in 1986-88).
He may have upgraded sice then.
I met him around that time - what a twit. (damn typos - a for i!)
It's not JK's car - I've seen the car and driver several times before and since JK came to grief.
I didn't think K1 NGS was sold that long ago, but time flies when you're having fun!
I think you will find that it was bought by the chap who used to have King's Club on Canvey Island, I'm not quite sure as to whether it is the same Dave King who manages Canvey Island F.C., but I'm pretty sure there was a connection.
I definitely remember seeing the photo of the plate in our local paper when it was sold as it was supposedly the record price for a plate at the time, presumably from it being top of the list it still is.
Just wish I had that much money, let alone be able to pay for a reg.

If they were on an NSU or a mazda, I'd say:
Sad Wankels...

I prefer the greater anonymity of an ordinary plate. The personalised plates are more easily remembered(especially by that bloke you cut up at the lights) and are more attractive to vandals.
Agree with you PLS. Why stand out ??
I would rather spend the money on something 'real' ,the DVLA will always own the number plate you are just the current registered user.
Has the new registration plates decreased interest ? having a '02' or '52' planted in the middle reduces the word making possibilities.
The local police contracted recovery firm has some very nice tow trucks, with the registrations:
T11W EM (add two black screws between the 1's thus : )
W111 TOW (with a white screw turning the first "1" into an "i")
AS51ST U (just plain clever!)
How about HOT 541T seen on a bright yellow TVR Cerbera. Styled 4 becomes an H and you can see what it says.
More money than sense in UK. The reg doesn't even read right in most cases and you have to figure it out. I bought "GROWLER" - exactly as is from the Broward County DMV in Florida some years ago for, as I recall for something under 100 Ben Franklins.
The finest number plate Ihave seen has got to be X321 ARO. Not too good I hear you say. Well, alter the 2 to look more like an S and view the reg plate through your mirror and what do you get???????
If I saw that on my tail (so to speak) I think I'd want to check out the ..er gender of the driver...

With my poor success rate I'm prepared to take the 50/50 chance!

But 51 can still be useful.... saw YE5 1 CAN (YE51 CAN) a few weeks back

Saw the same car in Brighton a couple of months ago. However, script on the plate was a bit indistinct and I don't actually believe it was K1NGS, just tricked up to look like it.

Saw these plates in Surrey c.10 years ago. Apparently owned by a couple (married?) theatre impressarios...
