98 2.0 Anti freeze recomendation - TimOrridge
Without replies consisting of RTFM, could anybody in the know advise what anti freeze I need for my 98 Mazda 626 petrol please. With all the talk of double figures minus temps, I intend to get some topup to increase the strength and maybe a tester.

I don't think there is much to choose between antifreezes, as long as the main component is (ethylene) glycol. I top up with neat AF to compensate for the times I have topped up with plain water in the summer! A simple test for effectiveness (as suggested by someone in the discussion thread) is simply to collect a small amount of coolant and put the container in a freezer, which will be at around -18degC. If it stays liquid, you've probably got enough AF in it...

NB - beware 'ready-mixed' antifreeze. This is just an excuse to sell you the stuff watered down!
