Are actually actually very good, this despite being absolutly useless in the wet.
Came over the mountain last night, hard packed sheet of solid white, 50 easy( daughter in the car , otherwise would have been faster) tried the brakes gently at first, then stamped on them, amazing retardation afforded. Snow was frozen too.
PS
I do slow up for the corners

Hmmm sounds to me like you were driving at excessive speed for the conditions, with your daughter in your car too! Must be great to have the self-confidence to buy cheap tyres in the first place, I think even the most experienced drivers here would normally plump for a decent brand.

Ah ha well spotted,
shes a scrapper (potentially), I did say I was driving slower .....bevcause our daughter was in the car, I am aware of the tyres limitions and was for putting them on the rear, stick a set of Hankooks/Contientals or sommat on the front, & as stated was taken aback that they perform so well in the snow, quite a knarly tread, may be why they are not so good in the wet
cheers
PS
The tyres were fitted by an decent accredited garage, not by me. The next time i am speaking to the propriator I will advise him as to their limitions, in my preception leastwise

Out of the cars I drove in the snow/ice last week the best tyres were Nexen N6000's (or some similar number). They were brilliant. Rubbish for the other 363 days in the year but for snow a bargain.

'Achilles' - what a great name for a tyre :-)

My new car came shod with some horrible Chinese tyres (Wanli) they're usless in the wet but my goodness they're gripping well in this weather and holding the road even when the Pirellis on the rear have let go...
