A Fiat Panda drove past my house a few minutes ago. As it approached I noticed it had a yellow front plate. Ah, foreign I thought. But then I realised the font and arrangement was typical UK, something like AF04 ABC. So then I thought it just had a rear plate on the front.
However when it had passed I noticed the rear plate had a light blue background. I don't remember ever seeing one like that before.
Does it come from a far flung part of the UK or have some other significance?
(I didn't remember the correct reg so can't use one of the usual sites to see what it should be.)

No - it just some idiot whose overdue for a fixed penalty notice.

just some idiot whose overdue for a fixed penalty notice.
Why do you think the owner an idiot? Why do you want him or her to be fined? What on earth is it that makes any sane person give a tuppenny damn about the colours of other people's number plates?
I blame television, for being so boring and often unpleasant that even the deeply unimaginative find themselves at a loose end, wishing harm to passers-by. 'The devil finds work for idle minds to do'.
Tchah!

Lud - you certainly know how to make a point.

I think you will find that these are new plates and the numpty (sorry Lud) has not taken the protective plastic shields off them.

Thanks for the replies. But I was hoping for something much more intriguing.
It was sensible car, in a sensible colour, being driven by a sensible looking driver.
So it looks like whoever fitted the plates was doubly incompetent - back to front and protective sheet left on.
I didn't notice whether there were still plastic covers on the seats!

There's a guy next door to me who's plate has a background of repeating words(?) For those people who think they can rearrange, alter etc plates should go on the DVLC website to see the rules. Recently, near here, someone was knocked down , many people saw the accident, the driver immediately drove on and NO-ONE could understand the plates number. That's what plates are for! to identify the car. There's one near me that even after 3 years stopping to read it I still can't! Probably a pic sent to the local plods would sort this fashion out.

Fully deserving of a fixed penalty just like all these morons with their front fogs on. I remember the police clamping down on that a while ago. Wish they'd do it again after a couple of fines maybe these idiots would think twice - same goes for badly displayed plates
