Every time you turn the key you are rolling the dice. It depends on how the car racked up its high mileage, how it has been serviced, etc, etc. And a giant helping of good old-fashioned luck.
Well treated you'd be unhappy to get less than 8-10 years, and 150-200k miles from most engine blocks these days. many vehicles will manage much, much more than this, especially if driven regularly on long runs.
The turbo and fuel-system/emissions gubbins are likely to present problems before pistons/bores/camshafts cause any issues, and brakes/suspension parts are generally what you have to shell out for at MOT time.
If it's got clean oil/coolant and runs sweetly with no excessive smoke or noises (may need a mechanic's ear for this) it will likely last at least a couple of years.
High miles = lower price remember.
