Although very small scale it is certainly good news and even if only creates 50 jobs that is a lot in the current circumstances.

top end of the market car maker; spin off F1 angle; acknowledgement of the importance of our specialist market in that sort of thing; for 50 jobs in the car factory, read hundreds of jobs with other suppliers
...so why can't our Govt acknowledge that and use some of our taxes to invest in Silverstone and keep our F1 circuit on the international agenda...very short sighted thinking in my book....look at what other countries do

Presumably they will now be able to re-name the car as well, as Spyker means virtually nothing to anybody younger than 100, outside Holland or who has never seen 'Genevieve'.
I think I am one of the few people to have actually seen one and that was outside the Casino in Monaco.

Why Silverstone? I'd rather they were at Brands.

Brands not big enough and can't always use the full circuit due to moaners living nearby (who no doubt bought their houses after the track was established). Can you imagine the hoo-hah with F1 using it.

While this is good news, the new jobs are a drop in the ocean compared to the jobs we have lost to China and India over the years.
The government should being doing more to encourage this type of thing. At least for small scale, high tech, highly skilled stuff we still have a chance of competing against China.

I agree. High end road car / motorsport design and engineering is something that, as a country, we can hand on heart claim to do better than anyone else, and a field in which our expertise is genuinely respected across the world. To lose the British GP will be very damaging to our image.

as i read it lots of british workers (50) are going to slap glassfibre on thick? maybe chuck a bit of carbon fibre large? and throw a few smiths clocks in the hole?
hardly stuff to write to our beloved elected prime minister about
surely?
