Watched the above programme last night,- very interesting. The bit about the Hesketh F1 team especially - they evidently went through a whole season with only one car, (and beat Ferrari!)
I can't recall any other 'private' teams achieving as much in F1.

I met James Hunt when working on Hesketh's estate as a (very) young man. Did not see the TV programme but my memory of him was as a complete madman (in a good way). No dare was too dangerous, a man who lived life to the full, and I had a real crush on his girlfriend who everyone call 'Hottie', with good reason. I envied him his lifestyle...

Although not an F1 fan I always thought James Hunt lived life to the full and probably crammed more into his relatively few years than most !
A great man !!

Totally agree he was a true F1 hero!

DItto. One my heroes.
One point though. With that kind of lifestyle why did he need the drugs?
Was being a racing driver with infinate access to foxy 70's crumpet, fast cars and boats not exciting enough?

He certainly made the most of his time in F1.
I wonder how this sort of behaviour would go down with the modern British press today ?
They slated Jenson Button when he bought a flat in Monaco and a boat saying he was living a 'playboy lifestyle'. So what ?? good on him i say. Its a lifestyle most of us dream about so it would annoying to see someone not making the most of it.

Can I assume from that that you had carnal knowlege of James Hunt? ;-)
