02 2.0 tdci 130 noisy on idle, clears up when revv - carnut1980
i have just changed all 4 injectors on my mondeo and now it has full power, no error codes. However the noise on idle before and after the injector change is still there, seems to be coming from timing chain area. car has done 74k and drives nicely, the noise on idle seems to go when pressing on, though still can be heard at times when driving. Could it be a tensioner or pulley? Has anyone else had this problem? It is quite loud, esp. when idling

What sort of noise is it, does it sound like diesel knock or is it a mechanical rattle?

i would say its a vibration, possibly a low pitched clattering noise, not scraping or scratching. Very agricultural sounding

The crankshaft auxilliary drivebelt pulley sometimes breaks up.
They are of a rubber type sandwich construction which gradually disintegrates.
Take a look at the auxilliary drive belt tensioner at tickover.
If it is bouncing around, the bottom pulley has probably gone semi-oval.
