I know motorists and cyclists are not always best buddies, but hopefully some of these photos of amazingly bad cycle lanes will provoke a smile of sympathy

Oh please Bigtee don't hijack a light hearted thread and start another cyclist bashing session!
Us bikists have been berrated enough before on previous ones.
Dear mods, please remove anything not related to the link started by the OP.
Pretty please?

Good, if they annoy you at least you have seen them, a bit like DRL's.

Highway code states:
Flashing lights are permitted but it is recommended that cyclists who are riding in areas without street lighting use a steady front lamp.
I use both.

Does a car being driven on two wheels count as a bicycle?

Number 6 is East Street in the town centre of Horsham where I live . It's a busy street full of restaurants and charity shops.
I always thought of it as being a mad layout not only for cyclists but also pedestrians crossing the road looking for the traffic one way and getting hit by bikes going in the opposite direction
So after many complaints the council decided to do something and the road was closed to cars altogether last June between 9 am and 4 30 pm which resulted in the cyclists being safer from cars but many more pedestrians wandering everywhere in the 'pedestrianised' area including the cycle lane....
I believe I saw in the local paper last week that they have changed it again to admit daytime traffic but I cannot recall exactly what they did.
No doubt it will be even more confusing as people will not be aware of the latest changes.

My favourites are the ones designed to spare us poor cyclists from the hazards of roundabouts, they always result in having to dismount and then cross at least 2 exit lanes (which is surely dangerous, especially when you have to bump the bike up and down kerbs with cars rushing at you...) to rejoin the road you were on.
If I wanted to travel that slowly and cross roads with no priority I would have chose to walk instead... :)

My town has a busy main road with a (lightly used) 24/7 bus lane on it.
The uneven pavement is signposted as the cycle lane with give way markings at the numerous road junctions.
I elect to use the bus lane for cycling.
What's the penalties for not using a signed cycle lane and cycling in a bus lane (I suppose I'll only upset any bus drivers here)?

Careful, the local jobsworths may be lurking, anti terror legislation probably covers it. Watch out for silent electric busses. :-)
