Maybe this should be under 'Unusual Sightings' but I thought that it might get a bit lost there so I will plough on. No doubt the moderators will move it if they deem that to be necessary.

Whilst parking in my local village this morning I realised that the vehicle into the space behind which I was reversing was one that I didn't recognise. When I had finished my 'Reginald Molehusband' manoeuvre I was astonished to discover a blue oval 'Ford' badge and the word 'Focus' impressed into a chrome strip along the boot. Closer inspection revealed that it was a Focus coupe. It had a UK plate and was right hand drive but I can find no mention of that model on the Ford website.

Have I seen the only such model in captivity?
Mystery Focus - Pugugly
It can stay here - no worries.

I saw one of these a few weeks ago, but no idea what model it is.
Mystery Focus - Old Navy
I think I read somewhere that Ford were developing a new "Capri", could it be one of these?
Mystery Focus - Bagpuss
There is a Ford Focus Coupe available in the US. It's basically a 2 door version of the Focus saloon and a very ungainly looking thing. Alternatively, maybe what you saw was a prototype of the upcoming Scirocco competitor, supposed to be appearing in 2010.

Sounds like the CC model. Coupe Cabriolet with folding metal roof.

Scouse said the one he saw is not on Fords website. The CC is.
Mystery Focus - gmac
He said he could find no mention of it, not that it wasn't there. The CC is not listed with other Focus models, it has it's own section.
What made me think it was the CC was the Focus written in the chrome strip across the rear.

Thanks PU, thats the one I had read about.
Mystery Focus - scouseford
No, it definitely was not a cabriolet with folding roof a la Volvo C70. It was a 2 door coupe. I had a brief look through the passenger window and it looked just like a conventional Focus in the dashboard area. Unfortunately, when I returned having bought my paper it was still there with no sign of the driver. I'll keep my eye out for future sightings.

Incidentally, it looked awful from the rear.

Have a search on Google Images for 'Focus Coupe' and see if you can spot the same thing on there. There are plenty of pictures to look at, but only you know what you saw.

Does sound like the Coupe Cabriolet with the folding metal roof up.

Not this one was it?

Although is US model and doesnt seem to be available as RHD but seems ugly enough to qualify.
Mystery Focus - Old Navy
Why do people keep saying it must be a CC when it is known that Ford are releasing a coupe version of the new Focus model in 2010 and test models must be around? Puguglys referal to the Auto Express article shows the car, and Scouseford says the one he saw was not a CC.

I live in a village close to FoE HQ and where quite a few Ford people live who have co. cars swapped pretty frequently and they get the latest model three to four months before general release - kind of a last test.

A new Focus is due in 2010 as you say but I haven't seen any on the street yet.
Mystery Focus - gmac
That's not to say I won't be back here tomorrow reporting the place swarming with new Focus models including a new 2 door coupe :) Just no sign of them as yet...
Mystery Focus - Old Navy
I bet there are plenty of them on the road testing in remote hot and cold parts of the world. Maybe one escaped to make sure it can handle our speed bumps. :-)

is that not a fiesta?
Mystery Focus - scouseford
No, it definitely was not one of those. I'll keep a weather eye out in my village for future sightings and report back accordingly

That might well be the explanation. I'm beginning to doubt my sanity!

Not this one either.

How about this one? And does anyone know anything about this as seems to be a 2008 model, but never heard of it. Seems to be a euro model judging by the German plates- but no trace on the German Ford website.

THAT'S THE ONE!!!
Mystery Focus - gmac
That's from a Romanian website. The article was published 1 Jun 2007 maybe it was produced for the east European market ?
Mystery Focus - PW
This gets a bit weirder, as looking on Wikipedia, would say it is the US version, but with Eurozone styling. In fact it is the same car as Henry K's link (same reg).

Here's the wiki link (need to scroll down to second generation which is some way down).

And link to photo of US 2009 SES Coupe.

Could either be, as suggested an eastern block only model based on US version, or Ford did look into launching across Europe, and one somehow managed to escape into the wild.

I dont think it is a US vesion, it looks as though it is based on a european MK2 Focus.

Maybe the world economy stalling meant this car was not launched. And with a new Focus due soon maybe it never will be?
