Virus? - David Lacey
Guy has just rung me and told me he has recieved an email form Julian Lindley on here(??) and that mail contained a virus that has wiped his HDD. Don't know any more at this stage. He has just asked me to post here saying so.

Silly bu**er should have had some AVG software....serves him right if so...

Hello Dr Dave.
I received one proporting to be from Julian Lindley this afternoon.

It was "jdbgmgr.exe" a well known and long established hoax-mail, in this case, certainly not enough to wipe a drive.

Well, upon speaking to Guy earlier it appears it is the old favourite, the Java Debugger (Which he didn't open or act upon) that was the last mail he actioned before the PC hung and he had to restart it. Since then the PC will not detect his HDD!

Coincidence I think.

Oh well, it's off to the IT Dept tommorrow then, I take it?
