My blower doesnt work, nor does the climate control. Im told the fuse (no.76) is behind the glovebox, as is the resistor pack, as such. I have removed the glovebox but cant find the fuse anywhere. It is a 40amp fuse so should be quite big, any ideas anyone? I really want to fix the blower so i can sell the car, cheers!

Are you saying that the climate control display is working ,but there is no fan blower? If so,then it is very possible that the fan speed final stage control is faulty. The part is located in the drivers footwell,at the rear and to the side of the heater box.Part cost around £70.hth

Would second that - if display is alive but fan dead the first thing to try is the "hedghog" final stage resistor. It is reached from the drivers footwell. It is a bit fiddy but ultimately a plug in replacement. There are loads of guides - google it.
They are a very, very common failed part. If it is not that and the display is alive the fan may have failed which is a top of the dash off job.

yes the display is fine, but no blower, regardless of setting. Ive pulledout the glovebox but cant find the final stage resistor, im assuming its next to the 40 amp fuse for the blower, also cant find that. Any ideas what this resistor looks like and whether or not it is next to the fuse?

On r/h/drive car it is not behind the glovebox. As in my previous reply it is situated in drivers footwell, above and to the left of your left foot. You will not see the whole unit, just the 5 pin connector and wiring that protudes from the heater casing. It is an aluminium heat sink device with cooling "spikes" but this part is not visible until removed.hth

i will check it out, im guessing if it is f/s/resistor i need a new one, no point in repairing it? Is the fuse next to it as well? I havent checked the fuse and this should be the first thing i do i guess
cheers

It is almost certainly the resistor pack. It is not next to the fuse. On a RHD car it is accessed from the driver's footwell. You need to remove the plastic shroud around above the pedals and the bit of carpet on the side of the centre console.
They are about £40-£50 from places like Eurocarparts. They are not repairable and the original design is rubiish which is why they pack up.
There are loads of guides how to do it - put in in google.

all sorted, i couldnt pull the original out as i could barely see it, but changing the connector to the new one worked fine. The part was £13 delivered from quarry BMW, perfect!

So where is the new one now?It needs to be in the correct location in the blower airflow to keep it cool, otherwise it will seriously overheat and fail.hth
