I have a Citroen 51 Reg C5 and my lights flicker at night also, dont know why but it seems a common thing with them

Does the C5 have electric power steering?
If so, then that'll probably be the cause as the electric PAS pump draws quite a bit of battery power.

The C5 has electric suspension pumps - I believe it is this that makes the light flicker occasionally. If you are suffering repeated continuous flickering then you have a power / earth fault somewhere.

It is a symptom of the pre 2003 cars. If you start getting random messages on the dashboard as well then the battery is on its way out.
They fixed the flickering on later models. You get used to it.
