Opel - Fiat engine use deal - diddy1234

I was wondering what the deal is with Opel / Vauxhall using the 1.3l CDTI and 1.9l CDTI Fiat engines.

From what I understand Fiat and Opel had a joint development agreement that was dissolved in a dispute in 2005.

So is there an agreement that Opel can use the Fiat engines for x years ?

Maybe these sort of deals happen more often than not (Rover using peugeot gearboxes for example) but I am surprised Opel can still use the engines with the agreement disssolved.

Opel - Fiat engine use deal - TheOilBurner

The original deal was to develop and share engines and platforms.

Since the deal ended, anything shared continues to be made, but evolves in different directions.

e.g. the Vx/Opel 2.0 CDTI produces 160bhp, but the new Alfa 2.0 JTD produces 170bhp...
