Probably a wiring fault or, most likely a faulty column switch. The single washer motor is wired to run in either direction so it pumps to one outlet or the other to wash the appropriate end of the car.
A reversing + off switch on a column stalk combined with the front wipers is a bit much for French electrical systems...
Start by putting a multimeter on the pump leads and check that the supply reverses as required.

Thanks for the reply.
I have checked with the multimeter and it does point to the switch.
Its ok in one direction, nothing the other.
When i put a direct feed to the pump it runs (both ways)
Looks like a trip to the breakers to try and get a switch
