I'm (hopefully) picking up my new car on Saturday - is there a list of things I should check/watch out for when I collect it? It is from a main dealer and is new, so hopefully won't be much wrong with it...

What car?

Google for: new car checklist. The first few look useful (sometimes links to other sites get deleted from here).
The main things I'm really careful about are damage to door edges & inside door shuts (had a car where the seatbelt had been shut in the door) damage to the sides of the car (like parking dents), windscreen chips and marks on the alloys, especially if the dealer has fitted locking nuts.
Try and have a look at the car before you pay.

Check all of the bodywork for chips, scuffs, scratches, dents etc. Check the alloy wheels for scuffs. Check all the interior (including the headlining) for dirty marks, stains or glue. Check for the presence of the service book, the radio code and the handbook. Check for the spare wheel and tools. Check the oil is ON the full mark, not under or over.
Enjoy
Nothing like having a brand new car. Its a great experience.

Thanks guys :)
It's a Discovery 4 GS model. First time (ever) that I've bought a new car. Come to think of it, only the second ever car I've bought (kept the last one for a good long while).

Check that the AA Recovery membership has been activated and that you have the card to hand as you drive home.
Must stop making Land Rover cracks. They're much better these days. Honest.

Ahem. Do check that the number plates are aligned properly. The one time I collected a new car on 1 August, in the days when that was when the new prefix letter appeared, they'd been in too much of a rush to fit the front one straight. I still see newish cars with the same problem and it would annoy me.

Disco 4, nice motor and the 3 litre's got some real grunt, i'm assuming you didn't go petrol.
As said do check the alloys carefully, other than that enjoy your new car.

Just check the car thoroughly before you accept it just in case and then enjoy yourself.

Take someone with you as another pair of eyes, someone fussy and meticulous (I have one of those at home) and, if possible, spmeone who knows the cars
