I read on an American website about applying silicon spray to CV rubber boots. They reckoned it would preserve the rubber and extend their life. Does this sound right? Thanks.

Yes correct but you must clean the boot first and repeat the clean spray policy perhaps which a year. If you only spray them the silicon traps the dirt and can increase the abrasion wear that some cars have on half to full lock.
Spraying the steering rack gaters also extends their life.

Where could I obtain such a spray - any product names??
|
I would imagine dash board cleaners, such as Armour-all Protectant, ect would suffice.

Oh! Silicone, not Silicon - silly me.

Maplin do a silicone grease which is good for this purpose. You could also apply it to your door seals.
One tip: Don't spray it on rubber that is next to paintwork - spray it on a rag and rub it on. Silicone will wreck your wax finish. Also good for sunroof runners.
