70mph is just a little more than I can manage on a suburban driveway.
I would have thought a heavily chipped Almera with nitrous oxide injection and - why not? - one of those efficient helical modern superchargers ought to be able to manage it all right NW.
Could there be a small stone under your accelerator pedal?

If I took a chip off the Almera and blasted it with nitrous oxide, that might just about achieve the right speed. But my driveway is only 5 feet longer than the car, so I don't think anything short of an explosion will get it to 70 from a standing start in that distance.

Booked in to Mr. T for free!
Said they can't promise anything but they have cured the situation with other cars in the past.
