Same outcome for a couple who tried to say their car was being driven by a friend from Bulgaria. They even flew to Bulgaria and sent themselves a holiday postcard purporting to be from their friend, who did actually did exist ISTR. Prison for them too.

Fair result.

If only everyone who deserves to wind up banged up got what he deserves.

I would say fair one as well except banging up an ill old man seems a bit harsh when I read in the evening local that some local scum who beat up someone in a bar got off with suspended sentences.

If only the police showed such diligence in all cases as well...

Beat someone half to death and you get a suspended prison scentence. Lie about breaking the speed limit twice by 15mph and you get a year in prison.

Absolutely pathetic.

It does seem harsh when you see what some scumbags get away with, but I think they have to have a tough penalty for perjury because of the deterrent required. If it was just a fine, all the scrotes in the UK would be lying on oath without giving it a thought and the system would collapse.

I do feel a bit sorry for him, but crikey, what was he thinking. It's not like he couldn't have afforded taxis or a chauffeur. Bit of arrogance got the better of him there, I think. Still, look at all the 'celebrities' who seem to get away with not remembering who was driving their car when it was caught speeding. Yes, a legal loophole, I know, but still.
