06 Intermitent Headlight Problem - nanou
Got a Fiat Punto Dynamic 06 earlier this year, driving home at night and the headlights
went out, they came back on again and then went out again for a few seconds.
Took car back to dealer and they changed a couple of light bulbs and said that there were no other problems. Lights went out again just for a few seconds, took car back to dealer but they can find no fault. Anyone else experienced this? Any ideas?

Pandas have faults with headlamps which are due to faulty stalks on the steering column, the stalk controlling lights and indicators.

ive had problems on mk2 puntos where the wiring clip goes onto the back of the bulb itself, basically its a typical fiat problem where wires and clips are not up to the standard required
the fix was/is to crimp the connecter up
on mk1 puntos the rear light connecters used to move away from the bulbs and stop working after a few years, bending the terminals back to contact was only a short term fix as well, as the metal always wanted to go back to straight like a door skin on an old sierra as it flapped in the wind

I've had a fault like that on a Fiat.

The negative cable from the battery to the engine had an iffy crimp about halfway down where it was bolted to the bulkhead, providing the earth path from the battery to the body.

I fitted an additional negative/earth from the battery to the top of an adjacent suspension turret.

Oh dear no improvement in Italian electrics in the last 30 years then..............
My 1980 Guzzi had a habit of switching off it's headlight just as I was coming up to a bend at silly speed. Cured by fitting Suzuki switchgear.

My dad had a 124 many years ago and the electrics were totally carp. There were a dozen packets of fuses in the glovebox, and he very soon realised why. Horn ring (lovely feature tall cars once used to have!) and main beam were always touch and go. One evening while messing about in the car (Dad held the keys) my brother and I found that on main beam a flash of the headlamps (on the same stalk as the dipswitch) activated all the electric circuits.

I thought Italian electrics reached the all time low with the likes of the Alfa Arna/Nissan Cherry Europa (1980s Japanese styling + Italian electrics = ??) and Lancia Gamma. But there be dragons still....
