Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 03 1.8 cdr 500 cd player

03 1.8 cdr 500 cd player - budyboy
ive been given a cdr 500 cd player for my astra but when ive plugged it in the only thing that lights up is the code button on the front of it and it wont let me do anything else.
is the cd player totally broke or is there something i can do with it?

Have you tried the correct procedure to enter the code?

Turn Off Stereo
Switch On Ignition (No Need To Start Engine)
Press & Hold Preset " AS " and Switch Radio On - Display Shows " SAFE " And Then Shows " 10 - - - - "
Press preset " 1 " repeatedly for 1st Digit
Press preset " 2 " repeatedly for 2nd Digit
Press preset " 3 " repeatedly for 3rd Digit
Press preset " 4 " repeatedly for 4th Digit
If the correct code number is now shown Press & Hold Preset " AS " Until the Unit Beeps

Many thanks for your reply dynamicdave I had lost my radio after a flat battery,the radio manual I found very offputting with what could happen if you cocked it up,I was going to leave it until I had to visit the dealers,your instructions were so concise that I printed it out and this morning successfully recoded it.
