Timing Chain and Cam Shaft Damage - rbm
Mondeo 2litre TDCi 130bhp Engine No 5M66646
Car registered - Sept 2005 55plate Mileage 40,000
Car driven home on Sunday night and would not start Monday morning. After testing injectors and cylinder pressures told by Ford dealer that the timing had jumped and subsequently damaged and bent the camshaft. Total cost of repair just short of £2000.
Anybody else had a similiar problem?

Did the garage look at the cam shaft, and crank, position sensors? Might be worth eliminating what seems to be fairly common, trivial failure before jumping to conclusions.
